But Why?

“Treatment-resistant gonorrhoea cases hit all-time high” – So shouts the headline in a medical news site. In other words, the most common treatment for this sexually transmitted bacteria is not working in more and more cases. In fact, this failure rate has nearly tripled over the last year.

The rest of the article goes on to state the problems if resistance continues to increase and subsequent problems with needing to use other therapies which have nasty side effects. That’s it. The elephant in the room being missed is asking the question that even kids are competent in, “But Why?” Why are we seeing this increase in resistance? A core reason is political correctness.

Root Cause Analysis

Let’s say there are more and more people getting hurt and killed in a particular stretch of road. We could focus our efforts and resources on improving the local emergency services to get these people to care. We could also do the same to improve the facilities and skills at that point of care. But that would be only a part of the solution.

A 1928 advertisement (ironically on a bin) declaring a cure for gonorrhoea, “The great crippler and sterilizer”. This cure is no longer effective.
“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.”
Edmund Burke

The full solution is also asking, “But Why?” Why are more people getting hurt and killed here? Are there design issues with the road or the particular set of cars travelling on it? Are there local behaviours or influencers of behaviour which make this particular area problematic?

In other words, we need to ask why to prevent the problem rather than just sit at the other end of the situation only cleaning up the mess of the problem.

The Truth Will Set You Free

And here in is our problem. Political correctness wags its finger at us and shouts, “Judgmental!” if one dares to utter the observation that promiscuity is the root cause. But it is simply good judgement to do root cause analysis. To look into and educate people of the plain truth. And the plain truth is this – a promiscuous lifestyle involving multiple sexual partners results in repeated infections. Repeated infections require repeated treatment. This creates an abnormal environment within which sexually transmitted diseases adapt resistances to their treatments. All of this is accelerated by the encouragement such behaviour either by the active endorsement of it or the ignorance of its risks. These are the plain and simple facts of the matter. The clear root cause of this epidemic.

And this analysis hasn’t even mentioned the deeper psychological, spiritual and cultural problems in treating sex as merely a recreational sport.
People deserve more than that. People deserve the truth because the truth will set them free. And who doesn’t want to be free? How will you help? It will take all of us.

You shall not commit adultery.
Exodus 20:14

“And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.
Matthew 19:4-6

“Rescue those who are being led away to death, and save those who stumble toward slaughter.”
Proverbs 24:11
