Be Still

“Be still and know that I am God.” Known as a verse of comfort, here’s an explanation and song which dives into the full muscular nature of this verse…

  1. I have a real testimony relating to this verse. A decade ago, I was living in Brisbane. My mother had suffered a severe stroke and lay in a hospital bed in Dublin in a coma. I was praying for her one morning and the Lord spoke clearly to me…”Be still and know that I am God…your mother belongs to Me” As I sat in my car, I immediately sent a text message 12,000 miles to my brother who I knew was by my mother’s bedside in Dublin and told him exactly what the Lord said. This was within seconds of receiving the message from God during my prayer. About a week later, I was by my mother’s bedside in Dublin. I prayed over her. I was there for hours. At about 2 in the morning, I wandered downstairs to get a coffee. I found a small prayer room outside of which was a statue of Jesus. I looked above the door and there it was..one single verse from the bible…”Be still and know that I am God.” The Lord took my mother home to Himself about a month later. To say that I had profound peace at the time of her passing and have held it ever since is an understatement. God is in control and He comforts us when we need it.

    • Thanks for your powerful and personal testimony Barry. Indeed, God has stilled all the wars that your mother faced and that’s a comfort we all can look forward to, no matter how things rage in the present.
