Tolerance Or Cowardice?

It’s good to be tolerant but like anything good, the balance or use of it can be skewed. Here’s a fascinating take on how tolerance can be a cover for a lesser character…

“Probably the most esteemed virtue in our culture today is tolerance. Everybody believes in tolerance. I’ve observed that what passes for tolerance is really just a substitute for intellectual cowardice. People are not willing to engage an idea they disagree with. They are not willing to either disprove it or be changed by it.
Rather, they avoid engagement all together by calling someone an intolerant bigot. Then, they sit back and feel good about themselves as the gracious, loving, tolerant kind. I’m convinced that in most cases its just cowardice in disguise.”
