Do Unto Others

According to Gallup, Singaporeans are the least emotional and “are least likely worldwide to report feeling positive emotions.”

sadfaceWhilst the data is a little dated and I understand there have been improvements, it makes for interesting reading. I came across this whilst reading the article “Viewpoint: Does Singapore deserve its ‘miserable’ tag?

What spoke to me was the apparent lack of sympathy the authour experienced in her everyday life there and how this, at least for her, was the reality behind the statistics.

Whether her experience is typical is up for discussion but it does reinforce a truth said so long ago….

Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Jesus as recorded in Matthew 7:9-12
