Child Sponsorship Works

Ever wondered what difference child sponsorship makes? For those who like looking at the numbers, wonder no more….

The University of San Francisco studied 10,144 children sponsored via the Christian Organisation called Compassion. They were in the countries of Bolivia, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Uganda, and the Philippines.

The findings were published in Chicago’s Journal of Political Economy. When compared to their unsponsored peers, sponsored children were:

  • 50–80% more likely to complete a university education
  • 4–18% more likely to have salaried employment as adults
  • 75% more likely to become community leaders
  • 40–70% more likely to become church leaders
