A Great Cloud Of Witnesses

So there I was engaged in the unexciting but necessary task of pumping my car tires when I heard the sickening crunch of body on car. Somebody had run into a person riding a scooter.

After asking an elderly couple nearby to keep an eye on my son who was sleeping in the air-conditioned comfort of our car, I ran over to help out. It was a decent hit, the guy had left a crumpled impression on the shattered car windshield.

All went well though and we got him off to the hospital. I returned to my car, thanked the couple and drove off with my son blissfully unaware of this unexpected twist in our out of town trip.

Today, I was going about my work. It was business as usual or so I thought. As I passed someone, the person gave me an enquiring look and asked, “You weren’t down at the coast at a car accident on the weekend were you?” Indeed I was. And so was she.

It’s a small world and there’s a great cloud of witnesses.

“Therefore, since we are encompassed with such a great cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
Hebrews 12:1
