2 Illustrations, 1 True Story And All Hands On Deck For Marriage

There once was a farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year it would win best in show in the local competitions.
Naturally, people wanted to know why. So a newspaper reporter interviewed him. The reporter was astonished to learn that he actually shared his seed corn with his neighbours.
Surprised and puzzled, the reporter asked, “Why are you giving your best seed corn with your neighbours? They’re your competition!”
The farmer smiled and replied Continue Reading →

Candy-Assed Christians

”The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Edmund Burke.

Good men (and women) do nothing out of ignorance or fear. Neither are good.

Ignorance can happen because of censorship or distraction while fear can be the result of cultural or physical threats. Larry Taunton had some excellent insights on this latter point and are well worth your time to consider them.

Specifically…

Be Encouraged 3!

You did it! For those who signed the previous 2 petitions defending the dignity and safety of mother and child, you did it and I thank you.

Did what? You made it abundantly clear that while he couldn’t see the illogical or uncompassionate basis of his 2 abortion bills, as a political beast, Rob Pyne could see the votes against him. He has dropped the bills which were to be debated today.

Will we hear this on the news? Probably not. Not that that matters. We know He Who Matters Most heard and that’s all that matters and why this happened.

Abortion is only the fruit. We must also address the root: sex is nothing more than a recreational sport, irresponsible males and the lies and bizarre thinking which make it all possible.

Thank you. Press on.

Transcending Trash Talk On Marriage – Part 1

“Why is Tony Abbott stopping Australia becoming a more modern nation and why doesn’t he trust his own members of his own team to exercise a conscience vote?”
Bill Shorten, Federal Labor Party Leader regarding Tony Abbott’s support of natural marriage, 2015.

“I have this to say to Tony Abbott, the problem with you mate isn’t that you’re stuck in the past, it’s that you want the rest of Australia to go back and keep you company.”
Anthony Albanese.

“Australia is now the only developed, English-speaking country that doesn’t allow same-sex couples to marry.”
“If there was any doubt that marriage equality was inevitable in Australia, the Irish vote has removed it. The question is not if but when … Australia’s political leaders have no more excuses for dragging the chain.”
Rodney Croome, Australian Marriage Equality National Convenor.

“Why Australia is so far behind the times on same-sex marriage?”
“More than 20 countries have now legalised same-sex marriage. Ireland’s recent constitutional referendum vote in favour makes Australia look particularly backward in comparison with most other developed, English-speaking countries. Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom…”
Carol Johnson, Professor of Politics, University of Adelaide.

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 1:9

As they loudly, proudly and intolerantly bully down any discussion about the importance of sex and marriage, never forget that it is all trash talk. Trash talk is “insulting or boastful speech intended to demoralize or humiliate a sporting opponent.”
But it is just that, talk. There is no substance behind it, nor is it new or original. Unsurprisingly, you’ll find the template and solution for it in the Bible. After all, there is nothing new under the sun.

A Time Of Distress

Trapped within their own city, it was a distressing time for the citizens of Jerusalem. Sennacherib had laid siege to their city. Proclaiming himself to be the King of the Universe and Assyria, he was a force to be reckoned with. Having waged war with Arabs in the northern Arabian deserts , the kingdoms of Anatolia and the Babylonians, he was even responsible for the destruction of Babylon in 689 BC. Now he was devouring the Kingdom of Judah.

He had destroyed 46 fortified cities in Judah, the last being Lachish, their second most important city in 701 BC. Accounts of its inhabitants being thrown over the ramparts, impaled, having their throats cut, being skinned alive or led away captive undoubtedly plagued the minds of those in Jerusalem – “We are now surrounded, trapped and threaten by those who did that.”

The following challenge issued to their king, Hezekiah would have been particularly chilling…

The Curse Of Culture

“It seems truth is not what Aboriginal units in universities are interested in but, rather, ideology and popular opinion expressed through social media. This does not help in the cause we fight for.”
“It is becoming worse as the thought police and the politically correct brigade are more interested in denying facts and truths in a selfish and self-righteous attempt to elevate their own moral standing. Well, they are not elevating their moral standing, they are suffocating the victims further.”

This is true of all issues tainted by such interference, not just indigenous domestic violence and abuse as discussed in the article from which the above quotes come from. Other issues which are victim to this include abortion, the proper role and importance of sex and the definition of marriage.

“This is how it has always been done” and ”Get with the times, this is how we do it in 2016/these days” are utterances of a lazy mind. And such laziness simply will not do for culture, something we all live and die under. The real question we should be asking is should it be done this way? Continue Reading →

Children, Family and Freedom In The Polls

As another parliamentary term passes, so approaches another election. The political parties tussle over the usual issues of the economy, jobs, education and health. But for Australians in 2016, there are bigger issues underlying these – children, family and the freedom of conscience and speech.

“Do we want a society of bland uniformity? Or do we want people to be able to express their views and live according to their convictions?”

“The very mechanisms you consent to today will be the ones used to enforce values which you don’t agree with tomorrow.”

“In 2016, your vote will sacrifice something. The only question is, what?”

All totalitarian regimes have these in common – censorship, brain washing and the shutting down of debate and scrutiny. Money, education and health are important but of what use are they if strictured within a vacuum of faceless, enforced conformity which abandons our families and children? Whether we recognise this or not, in the face of all else, these are the defining issues of this election.
Please do me, all Australians and the future generations a favor – please consider the following and sharing it with all who will be voting in the upcoming Australian Federal election.

Defy The Age

“One of the dumbest thing’s I’ve ever read.”

So posted “hojoojoh” as a comment to one of the articles on this website.
I replied, “Hi hojoojoh – thanks for stopping by. I’m curious, why did you write the above?” No reply.
Not surprising. Often, such comments lack not only the style but also the substance and endurance to undergo a civil conversation.

“In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
George Orwell

Truth isn’t a popularity contest but the proclamation of it is. Continue Reading →

Die By Lie

2 years ago this week, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared enroute from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. With the loss of 239 people, this tragedy continues as the most expensive wreckage search in aviation history goes on at the time of writing.
If due to human intervention, Malaysian police have identified the flight’s captain as the prime suspect with everyone presumed perished in the southern Indian Ocean.

At the time of the event, I reflected on tragic and instructive nature of the event. How would the passengers know if the flight was being hijacked by the crew? The wider lesson here is how would we know that culture is being hijacked if we are distracted by issues of lesser priority or numbed by entertainment?

What lies are people being promised only to be taken somewhere horrific instead?
Cultural hijack seems abstract, not so once you see the face of human suffering from it. Just this week, I was faced again and again with that. Continue Reading →

The Affect Of Fatherless Families

Much has been documented regarding the knock on effects of redefining marriage. From freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, a loss of standards by which one can define sexual relations, to even the way in which good governance has been side stepped, there is much more to it than simply a social contract’s definition.

Here’s some effects which may not be so evident – predisposing children to at-risk behaviours and atheism later in life. Continue Reading →
