Marriage Disinformation

“..fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we are going to do with marriage when we get there. Because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change. It’s going to change and it should change. And again it should not exist.”
Masha Gessen at the 2012 Sydney Writer’s Festival.
Outspoken Russian and American journalist, author, and activist.

If the above seems like a radical new turn of attitude or a sudden revelation how the marriage redefinition camp operates, please reflect on the following…

“…to fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution completely–to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society’s moral codes, but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution.”
Michelangelo Signorile, 1993 in OUT Magazine.
American journalist, author and talk radio host who’s been listed in America’s “100 Cultural Elite” as well as “The Gay 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Gay Men and Lesbians, Past and Present”.

If all that sounds too far removed from the local scene and only the modus operandi of overseas radicals, let’s look at a very local example.
Rodney Croome is the National Convenor of “Australian Marriage Equality”. In a debate with Dr David van Gend from the Australian Marriage Forum, he stated the Catholic Church in Tasmania should face the courts for breaking the Anti-Discrimnation laws. Why? For stating that homosexual people are “a grave threat to others”.
A serious allegation. If it were true. But it’s not and Dr van Gend brilliantly called him out on it.

His statement can be heard at 31 minutes and 10 seconds here:

The booklet can be read here (and I would recommend you do).

Also, at 42 minutes and 29 seconds, Croome claims that the sky hadn’t fallen in countries similar to Australia where marriage has been redefined and that marriage being a 2 person deal was “a limit we will not go beyond”.
This is ignorant at best but more likely disingenuous given that is where the legal logic flows and therefore, so has the news in the U.K. and The Netherlands.

Deception and lies abound in the absence of real substance. When it comes to the future of our nation and children, we must do better than that.
