Marriage In The Polls

Truth isn’t a popularity contest. However, what’s popular certainly influences what people think is truth. So it comes as no coincidence that polls have been used as a weapon in the discussion over marriage.

Here’s some polling information that’s worth considering…

This poll notes that..

  • 3 out 4 Australians think.we should try to ensure that children, where possible, are raised by their own mother and father.
  • 3 out 4 Australians think the right to marry includes the right to create a family.
  • 3 out 4 Australians think it is more important that a child should have a mum and dad than that two men should have the right to marry and create a family.

Significantly, 1/3 of Australians surveyed thought it was equally important to give a child a mum & dad and to give two men the right to marry and create a family. That can’t be done. You can’t defend a child’s right to both a mum and a dad and push the idea that two men can marry and create a motherless family.

In other words, 1/3 of Australians really don’t know what they are signing up for in redefining marriage.

Maybe that’s why despite claims they have 72% of Australians on their side (which has dropped in recent polls), those who want to redefine marriage run around trying to push this to the top of everyone’s list (which it isn’t) in an attempt to bypass a full debate and vote on this.

Ignorance was never bliss. People should be respected and given the fully picture. Pass this on.
