I was holding our infant son when my wife shared the following with me this morning. It’s hard to describe how I felt.
More confused yet is the thinking that allowed this to happen. You can see that in the following quotes…
…a newborn baby being saved from a public toilet after her mother tried to cover up her pregnancy.
The girl survived her ordeal and is now in hospital with her mother, who was tracked down by the police.
Its unclear if she will be charged.
The near tragedy caused heated debate on local social media with many discussing the lack of decent values among the country’s youth.
…confused indeed. If you can kill a child in the womb, no wonder there’s confusion over whether you can be charged over treating one as refuse.
There are two victims here. Firstly the child and secondly the mother, both being victims of deeply confused thinking over life. If there is a “lack of decent values among the country’s youth”, we need to first start thinking about the toxic ideas we are soaking them in.
Let’s not only condemn the confused thinking but explore some positive actions to move beyond it.

Wow, this was truly shocking to read today Kevin!! That poor baby starting off her young life rejected and unwanted, literally flushed down the toilet!! I agree that both the mother and child are victims to a very sad society and confused culture about life itself. I cannot imagine what the mother must have been thinking or feeling at that time or when she was reunited with her child that she had tried to dispose of. I bet it hits home even more for you as a father who really treasure your new baby son. We need to pray for this generation

Yes, a shocking read which I’m saddened to pass on but pass it on I must.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time this has happened and such acts aren’t unique to China, especially when you consider the issue of abortion in all its forms. May mother and child move forward into the beauty of motherhood and childhood as they were meant to. May she directly experience the fullness of it as we have had the privilege to and not the lies she has fallen under.
Our prayers and actions should not only be for her generation but for all generations. After all, it was the generation before which allowed the weeds which now infest her mind.
Things tend to spoil. This is another vivid example of why God doesn’t take us to heaven immediately upon becoming His children – the world needs us down here to reverse the curse.
